International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV)

International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) occurs every year on March 31st. This day is about celebrating the achievements of trans individuals and recognizing the progress that has been made towards equity for the trans community. We reaffirm our commitment to educate ourselves and others about trans issues and speak up against transphobia.

If you're on any social media platforms, and you feel safe to share, please consider updating your cover photo or profile picture to show your support for TDoV.

Trans folks and their families often look for those kinds of gestures to learn who in their lives will likely be safe and supportive allies. It's a simple action that can mean the world to someone who may not feel safe or validated."

The day was founded by US transgender activist Rachel Crandall of Michigan in 2009 as a reaction to the lack of recognition of transgender people, and citing the frustration that the only well-known transgender-centered day was the Transgender Day of Remembrance which mourned the murders of transgender people, but did not acknowledge and celebrate living members of the transgender community.
