We are surveying our community to help us meet your needs and inform local providers of supports for the 2SLGBTQI community where gaps are in services.

August Virtual Sharing Nights

If you’re looking for a way to connect, join us for one of our peer-facilitated sharing nights via Zoom. Please email inquiries@pflagdurhamregion.com to request the meeting ID and password.

NEW for September: Parents’ Group

We are launching a new peer-facilitated sharing group for parents, guardians, and caregivers of trans and non-binary youth or adult children. This group will run on the last Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm.

The first meeting is planned for Thursday, September 30 at 7:00 pm.

The meeting will be on the same night as Sharing Night but will be a separate group specifically for parents. Keep an eye out for announcements on our Facebook page, or check the September newsletter for details.

Sharing Night — Central

2SLGBTQI community, parents, caregivers, youth, allies — everyone is welcome! Join the conversation and connect with others last Thursday of every month

The next meeting is planned for August 26 at 7:00 pm.

Sharing Night — North Durham

If you live in North Durham, join us on the third Thursday of every month to connect with the North Durham Sharing Night group.

The next meeting is planned for August 18 at 7:00 pm.

Transitions

The transitions group offers a social space for trans & questioning folks aged 16 and older.

The next meetings are planned for August 5 and August 12 at 7:00 pm.

Parents’ Group on Facebook

Our Family TRANSformation Facebook group offers a supportive space for parents and caregivers who are supporting a person who identifies as transgender to share support and resources.

You can request an invitation to join this private group here.

Coming Soon: Champions Awards

Our Champions Awards honour people who support the 2SLGBTQI community and work towards equity and inclusivity.

We will be accepting nominations for the 2021 awards soon!

The Rose Garden Drag Show at Manantler Craft Brewing Co.

Our friends at Manantler Craft Brewing Co. are hosting a drag show on their patio. Ticket sales will be donated to PFLAG Durham Region!

Support for Trans Folks & Parents at Carea

Carea Community Health Centre provides support and information groups for trans folks and their parents/guardians/caregivers including:

Gender Journeys: A group for ages 14+ that allows for participants to explore their gender and sexual identities in a safe, affirming environment. Please email inquiries@pflagdurhamregion.com for more information.

Family TRANSformations: A group providing support, information, and affirming positive interactions for parents, guardians, and caregivers of youth or adult children who have a trans identity. Please email inquiries@pflagdurhamregion.com for more information.
